For those who have never done meditation before, a good way to start is by being physically still. When you are physically still and do not move, the mind becomes still. Find a comfortable quiet place that feels cozy and where you can sit your body straight. Once you have positioned yourself motionless your will soon find your mind starts becoming still and you will not be having thoughts, you will feel inner peace and then you will want to do this again and again. In the beginning you may only be able to do this for a short time, but gradually you will develop this coziness and peace and thoughts will be coming shorter and shorter. If you are looking for an answer for something, stop yourself and wait a moment, your self will talk to you. Meditation begins with concentration and it is you who will choose what to concentrate on. It can be an object, like the flame from a candle or a mantra which are words of prayer, which resinates within you, or it

could be as simple as your own breath. A mantra is words or song or sounds. and when you meditate with mantras you develop a meditative state of mind much quicker. Chanting a mantra, any negative thoughts that come to you get cut in the middle and then these negative thoughts transform into positive ones. Pick a mantra that is sacred to you or make one from words that are meaningful to you like simply chanting the word God or God and me are one, or the Universe and me are one . The Beatles sang "my sweet Lord, hallelujah", which could be a mantra. It is up to you and your beliefs. Being an Orthodox Christian myself, I often meditate to "The Lords Prayer". Choose a mantra that calls you and resonates within you and one you can concentrate on. If thoughts start coming, get yourself back to concentrating on the mantra. Try to repeat the mantra in your mind and listen to the vibration created by it. When you bring your mind back to that point again and again, you will fix
the mind. When you become able to fix your mind on meditation longer and longer you are truly meditating. The longer you can keep that concentration on the mantra the closer you will become to seeing your own soul. Then you will start being intuitive.

Prayer is when the mind one-pointed and man talks to infinity. Meditation is when the mind becomes totally clean and receptive, and infinity talks to the man.
